Guildo Castle

Guildo Castle

Located on the edge of the Arguenon estuary, the Château du Guildo is a medieval fortress currently closed to the public due to conservation and development work (reopening in July 2021). It is one of the rare castles from this period to have been the subject of complete archaeological excavations. These excavations, carried out from 1994 to 2013, brought to light a number of objects and decorations and revealed several periods of occupation ranging from the 11th to the 17th century. Surrounded by a sensitive natural space, visitors have complete freedom to stroll outside the monument, soaking up the romanticism of the ruins and the wild surroundings of the castle.

On the banks of the Nantes-Brest canal, in an environment conducive to meditation, Bon-Repos, the aptly named, is a former Cistercian abbey founded in the 12th century by the Rohan family. Rebuilt in the 18th century, since 1986 it has been the subject of a vast program of restoration and activities carried out by the Association of Compagnons de l'Abbaye de Bon-Repos.
